Shortly after 8 pm on Monday, December 23, Baltimore County 911 received phone calls reporting a motor vehicle crash on Patterson Avenue in the area of Wildwood Avenue in Pikesville with reports of an occupant trapped inside an overturned SUV. Rescue Box 2-24 was dispatched, bringing Battalion Chief 24, Baltimore County Fire Department Engine 2 & Medic 3 and EMS 5, and Squad 322, Tower 323 and Ambulance 325 from the Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company to the scene. Upon arrival, the Captain on BCoFD Engine 2 confirmed an MVC involving a minivan and an SUV with confirmed entrapment and assumed command; firefighters from the Squad and Tower began setting up cribbing to stabilize the overturned vehicle. Crews utilized a host of equipment on the rescue, including portable lighting, Resq jacks, high-lift jacks, the "Jaws of Life" and airbags, which were used to raise the vehicle as the trapped victim was pinned underneath. Once extricated, the victim was transported by BCoFD Medic 2 to an area hospital. Baltimore County Police 4th Precinct units provided traffic and scene control, and the crash is under investigation by BCoPD.
