Shortly after 830 pm on Sunday, October 25, Baltimore County westside fire units were dispatched to Fire Box 31-5, reporting a building fire at the Rosewood Complex in Owings Mills, MD. This is the site of a former state psychiatric hospital that has been vacant for several years, much of the property has been purchased by Stevenson University. First-arriving While units were enroute, Dispatch advised that Baltimore County Police 3rd Precinct units were on the scene and reporting fire was showing. BCoFD Engine 19 from the Garrison station, under the command of Lt. Ronnie Mintz, was the first arriving fire department unit. Lt. Mintz reported heavy fire showing from a vacant 50x200 one-story building, and ordered firefighters to assume defensive operations. A Working Fire Dispatch was quickly ordered, with BC22 Robert Kemp assuming command, and BCoFD Truck 18 (Randallstown career station) and Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company set-up ladder pipe and tower operations. The fire was brought under control in a little over three hours. The office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating this fire.
