First battallion firefighters in Baltimore County, MD were called to a Hillendale home on Sunday, May 6, 2007 around 445 p.m. for a reported fire. BCoFD Engine 11 (Hillendale station) reported heavy black smoke showing while en route, and upon arrival at 1670 Mussula Road reported fire on 2 floors of an attached duplex dwelling. BCoFD Engine 10 (Parkville station) reported to the rear alley and reported heavy fire on both floors. Command requested a rescue assignment as people were thought to possibly be in the house, but after units were able to quickly knock down the fire, searches revealed the home was empty except for 2 cats, which were taken out by firefighters and given oxygen. On the scene were Deputy Chief 1 (William Spencer-Strong); BCoFD Engine 11, BCoFD Engine 101, BCoFD Engine 10, Lutherville Volunteers Engines 302 & 307, BCoFD Engine 8, and Providence Volunteers Engine 291; BCoFD Trucks 8 & 1, BCoFD Medic 10, BCoFD EMS6, Air Unit 478 (Jacksonville Volunteers) and Rehab Units from Central Alarmers.
