In the morning of Sunday October 5, 2008, fire companies in northwest Baltimore County, MD were alerted for a motor vehicle accident on Timber Grove Road near Owings Mills Boulevard, reported as a car vs. a utility pole. Engine 401 (Glyndon Volunteers) arrived to find a Ford car had struck a pole, bringing the pole crashing down onto the roadway with live wires down. It was initially thought that the wires were on the car, limiting access to the patient, but it was determined that firefighters were able to access the patient. Crews from E401, Baltimore County Fire Dept. Engine 56 (Franklin career station), IV 415 (Reisterstown VFC) and Medic 315 (Owings Mills VFC) were able to safely get patient out of the auto. He was transported via M315 to Baltimore's Shock Trauma Center. Baltimore County Police had the road closed for much of the day as Baltimore Gas & Electric crews worked to repair the pole.
