At 4:13 p.m. on Friday April 20, 2007, Baltimore County Fire Dept. Engines 1 & 11 were dispatched to Box 1-25 for a fire alarm sounding at the Maples of Towson, a multi-story assisted living facility located at 7925 York Road in Towson, MD. Arriving units found smoke in the building and upgraded to a full fire box. Assisted by the building's sprinkler system, firefighters attacked the fire and made a quick knockdown. Other firefighters and EMS crews assisted building staff in evacuating dozens of elderly residents, and the fire was called under control at 4:54 p.m. County buses were brought in to provide shelter for residents while crews extinguished the fire.
