Pikesville, MD – Oct. 30, 2007 – Baltimore County, MD units were called to an unusual vehicle rescue at the Brittany apartment complex shortly after 1 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 30. Rescue Box 2-11 was dispatched, bringing BC2, Engine 2 & Medic 2 (Pikesville career), Tower 323 (Pikesville volunteers), Squad 303 (Lutherville volunteers) and EMS5 to 8 Deauville Court, off Greenwood Road. Arriving units found a Ford Taurus that had struck three vehicles parked in front of an apartment building and was resting on top of the other cars, with the driver trapped. Lt. Justin Schumer (Tower 323) assumed rescue officer and the crew stabilized the vehicle with ARTs, The engine crew assisted the tower crew, utilizing cutters and spreaders, to remove the driver’s side door in order to gain access to the patient. Once freed, the driver was transported via Medic 2 to Northwest Hospital for evaluation and treatment. Aboard the tower for this call were Lt.. Schumer, Sgt. Adam Goodman, and Firefighters Josh Schumer and Chad Hipsley.
