Baltimore County, MD fire and police units participated in the annual "Public Safety Day" on October 3 at the Eastpoint Mall in Dundalk, an opportunity for the public to get a close-up look at emergency equipment; to talk with firefighters, police officers and emergency medical personnel; and to learn about important home and personal safety issues. The event featured a variety of hands-on activities for kids, including squirting a fire hose, participating in a "bucket brigade," and sitting in a police helicopter. Fire department demonstrations included a simulated auto accident involving extrication and Urban Search and Rescue crews rappeling from a tower ladder. Police K9 teams also displayed suspect apprehension skills.
