Baltimore County, MD held their third annual Public Safety Day on Saturday July 28, featuring equipment, displays and demonstrations. Pikesville VFC Squad 322 handled the first auto extrication demonstration. Public Safety Day showcases the County's police, fire and other public safety departments by allowing citizens an up-close, personal look at equipment and demonstrations, as well as the chance to talk, one-on-one, with public safety personnel. The day featured hands-on activities for kids; rappelling; equipment displays; police dogs in action; rescues from wrecked cars; Homeland Security apparatus; police helicopters and motorcycles. Public Safety Day is sponsored by the Police Community Relations Council, the Baltimore County police and fire departments, the Baltimore County Sheriff's Office, the Baltimore County Volunteer Firemen's Association and the Office of Fair Practices and Community Affairs. ------ We only stayed for about 1.5 hours because we headed down to the Baltimore Convention Center for the Firehouse Expo (hopefully there will be better planning coordination next year!) but thought I'd post a few shots I grabbed.
