Photos taken by my older son, Jordan - age 10, with his Nikon S4000. On Saturday, February 12, members of several Baltimore County, Maryland volunteer fire companies - Cockesyville, Chestnut Ridge, Maryland Line, Rockaway Beach, and career Baltimore County Fire Department firefighters from several stations had a live training burn in the Cockeysville / Hunt Valley area. The "house burning" was at 911 Shawan Road, near Oregon Ridge Park. The house was donated to the fire department for training. The volunteers and career firefighters performed different evolutions inside, and eventually the house was allowed to "free burn." Several of the firefighters were from the county's "EMS to Firefighter" bridge program, for which participating in a live burn is part of the requirements. (See: http://www.baltimorecountymd.gov/Agencies/fire/fire_academy/ems2ffbridge/index.html) The Baltimore County Fire Department Fire Rescue Academy supervised this training burn.
