Woodlawn, MD, Nov. 8, 2007 – Units on Baltimore County’s westside battled a fire in a garden apartment building on the evening of November 8. Shortly before 9 p.m., BCoFD Engine 3 (Woodlawn career) was dispatched for an investigation after a female called 911 from 7212 Oak Haven Circle in the Oakview Apartments requesting the fire department and then hung up. Additional 911 calls were then received, causing a full fire box to be dispatched. Engine 3 arrived at the 3-story building with heavy smoke showing, requested a Working Fire Dispatch, and began searching for the fire. Crews located fire in a third floor apartment heating unit with extension to the ceiling and roof area. An aggressive interior attack contained the fire to one apartment. Pikesville Volunteers Tower 323 positioned in a parking lot to the rear of the fire building, and its crew, via the bucket, assisted crews from Truck 18 (Randallstown) and Truck 13 (Westview) in opening up the roof area to check for fire extension.
