On Friday evening December 2, shortly after 1930 hours, Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company Engine 321 was alerted for an appliance fire with BCoFD Engine 2 in the unit block of Weyanoke Court (local box 2-28). Based on the comments of "stove and microwave on fire," Engine 2 requested PVFC Tower 323 to respond. Engine 2 marked up with nothing evident from an end of group townhouse, but quickly found fire showing from the rear of the structure. Engine 2 established command, initiated an aggressive interior attack and requested the box and working fire assignment. Engine 321 arrived at the hydrant and stretched a 300 ft line to Side C. Tower 323 arrived and initiated a search and throwing ladders. Squad 322 arrived and assisted the Tower with search and ladders as the Tower driver put the aerial to the roof. As Engine 2 knocked the fire in the kitchen, crews from 32 and Engine 19 discovered moderate extension to the 2nd floor and significant extension into the attic. As the interior crews began opening up and extinguishing the fire on the second floor and attic, the Tower crew and Truck 18 opened up multiple large holes in the roof. Company 31 stood by as the RIT team and later assisted with overhaul. Crews operated for over two hours before returning to service.
