After running 30 calls for service during the day on Friday, December 23, Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company units were alerted with other westside stations for Fire Box 19-2 in the 8800 block of Pikesville Road, off Mt. Wilson Lane, just after 630pm. Baltimore County Fire Department Engine 19 from the Garrison station arrived and reported fire showing from a 2.5 story single family house and firefighters from Engine 19 and Engine 2 advanced an attack hoseline. Crews from PVFC Squad 322 and Tower 323 laddered the building, ventilated the second floor and performed searches where they encountered rapidly deteriorating conditions of with fire in two rooms, high heat and limited visibility. Working in extremely cold temperatures, with several handlines firefighters extinguished a fire on the home's first floor without any injuries reported. Firefighters believe the fire may have started in the laundry room and remind everyone to regularly clean the dryer vent.
