Around 6pm May 1, 2018, the Baltimore County 911 Center received multiple calls reporting a building fire at Padonia Rd & Beaver Dam Rd (Fire Box 17-8). While enroute, BCoFD Engine & Tower 17 (Texas career station) reported heavy smoke showing, and upon arrival confirmed a Working Fire in a vacant building which once housed a Romano's Macaroni Grill restaurant. Firefighters initially attempted an interior attack but after a few minutes withdrew and were ordered to an exterior defensive attack due to heavy fire conditions and an unstable building. In addition to Tower 17, ladder pipes from Providence VFC Truck 297 and BCoFD Truck 1 were put in service along with multiple handlines. Firefighters remained on the scene through the evening to extinguish the fire, which is under investigation.
