In the early morning hours of Saturday, October 11, crews on Baltimore County's westside were alerted for Fire Box 18-13, with a caller to 911 at 3:10 a.m. reporting an automobile accident with a house fire at Rolling Road and Marling Road. Responding units on the first alarm included Pikesville VFC Engine 321 and Squad 322. BcoFD Medic 118 (Randallstown career station) arrived on the scene first and found a Saturn Outlook SUV had driven off the road, through the fence of a house, and struck the building, causing a large fire. First arriving units were met with a wall of flame on the Rolling Road side of the house that was so intense that a basketball backboard in the driveway was melted. The fire had advanced into the home's attic, and an aggressive attack was able to knock the fire down before it consumed the entire house. Engine 321 was the first arriving supression apparatus and pumped several lines at the height of the fire. The residents of the home were able to escape with the assistance of neighbors prior to the fire department's arrival.
