Shortly before 11pm on Thursday, March 27, Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company Squad 322 and Tower 323 were alerted with other Baltimore County westside fire units for a vehicle crash with reported entrapment at the intersection of Reisterstown Road and Garrison View Road, across from the Foundry Row shopping center (Rescue Box 19-12). Baltimore County Fire Department Engine 19 was first on scene and confirmed a Volvo car and BMW SUV were involved, and the driver of the Volvo was unconscious and heavily trapped. Engine 19's crew stretched a hoseline to control a small fire in the car's engine compartment, while firefighters from Owings Mills Volunteer Fire Company Truck 313 began setting up for a rescue operation, joined by firefighters from PVFC's Squad and Tower. Crews worked for approximately 20 minutes to extricate the driver, who tragically was pronounced deceased on the scene. The crash is under investigation by the Baltimore County Police Department's Crash Team.
