Baltimore County Fire Department Engine 19 (Garrison career station) was alerted on the evening of April 25, 2018 for smoke reported in the area of Reisterstown Road & Greenspring Valley Road (Box 19-4). Responding from quarters about a half-block away, Engine 19 discovered the smoke was from a tractor-trailer burning at the rear loading dock of the Aldi store in the Valley Centre Shopping Center, located at 9619 Reisterstown Road. Engine 19's officer requested a Local Fire Box, bringing an additional engine and truck to the scene, due to the volume of fire and proximity to the structure. A few minutes later, a full fire box assignment, along with Hazmat 114 and Foam Unit 14, as heavy smoke was entering several commercial occupancies. Firefighters stretched several handlines and worked for over an hour to extinguish the fire in the tractor-trailer.
