Around 7 p.m. Friday, March 30, Baltimore County police and fire units responded to an apartment complex on Shadowood Court off Pleasant Ridge Drive in Owings Mills for a 2-year-old toddler who fell out of a window 30 feet above the ground. Units arrived and reported the child was a "Priority 2" patient and requested a Maryland State Police medevac helicopter. Owings Mills Volunteer Fire Company Utility 319 and Baltimore County Fire Department Medic 19 and EMS 5 were on the scene treating the patient, assisted by David Vitberg, M.D., BCoFD Associate Medical Director Car 605, who responded to the LZ and helped stabilize the patient prior to transfer of care to the Trooper. BCoFD Engine 19 responded to Owings Mills Elementary School to set up the landing zone. The child was flown via MSP Trooper 1 to an area trauma center.
