Woodlawn,MD – March 1, 2008 – Around 1 a.m., Baltimore County Fire Dispatch alerted westside units for an auto accident with reported entrapment on the outer loop of Interstate 695 between Liberty Road and Security Blvd. Due to a 2nd alarm nearby, the running assignment for this call was somewhat unusual: BC 33, Liberty Road Engine 461 (from Station 3), Glyndon Truck 404 (from Station 18), PVFC Squad 322 & Medic 325, IV335 (Woodlawn VFC) and Baltimore City Engine 30 (from Station 4) on the inner loop. Arriving units found a 3-vehicle crash, with the two occupants of a Dodge passenger car unable to free themselves, and the occupant of a taxicab suffering from serious lower body injuries. Utilizing the Holmatro tools off Squad 322, firefighters extricated the two people from the Dodge, who were transported to Sinai Hospital. The more seriously injured victim from the taxicab was transported to Baltimore’s Shock Trauma Center.
